My intent is not to necessarily challenge you on this, but can you post a credible source stating ^this^ which applies to the internet as a whole? And not regional, Country, etc - specific? Sorry to bump this thread.

At least we know the recipient is studying at Dartmouth College, which makes things a lot easier. Per Wiki, they are a private, Ivy-league university. A quick Google search reveals a Ryan Dean on the rugby team, which was posted on Twitter on March 19: http://twitter.com/#!/dartmouthrugby...54229377941504

Suggestions:
1) Try to get in touch with the rugby team coach;
2) Contact campus police regarding off-campus theft and mail fraud; or
3) Get in touch with school directly, though they probably won't provide you with any student information.

Judging by the school, the scammer is not without means and probably has a reputation he'd like to keep intact. I'd say chances that this is resolved in your favour are improving.

Whether it is or is not illegal to post another's personal info on the web, this thread will certainly do him some personal damage, as anyone who searches his name in conjuction with that of his alma mater will find this thread in the results for some time going forward.

Sad, really. A little foolishness like this is likely to haunt him. If he is wise he will make things right and ensure a happy ending.

OP, the mods may delete this thread without warning. I suggest you cut and paste the personal info into a new post in the pinned buyer feedback thread to ensure maximum longevity.

Thread Starter
Thanks everyone, especially for the helpful info. Been away for a few days, read the replies. I just wanted the motherfucker banned. To the guy who posted about me accusing the guy of being a criminal mastermind, get real, I'm just trying to help other people on the board. What I wind up doing is between paypal, me and him. And potentially the authorities.

Got a million things to do, just wanted to check on this thread. I'll cut and paste the info into the buyer & seller feedback thread shortly. I'm correct that the mods can ban people for ripping other members off, right? If so, we have two people right here who were burned by the guy, doesn't seem like too much to ask.

My .02 would be to contact the Hanover PD and file a report. There's not really any reason I can see not to, and they will take the claim seriously.

It's illegal to post erroneous legal advice on the internet, FYI.
