Hey was wondering how AS Hannover compared to other English Country Boots. Say the C&J Islay. Also, was wondering if anyone knew how to size it. I am a 9.5 US Brannock so a 8.5 UK. Do the boots run TTS?

The leather of the Hannover is softer; the Islay is a higher boot; the Hannover has a slightly chiseled toe; the Islay has a rounder fuller toe.

Hannover is on a commando while Islay is on Dainite.

Owned both and they have the same function for me. I kept my Hannover because of the commando sole and since I have numerous shoes/boots with Dainite.

For the Hannover, I take 1 full size down my US size (e.g., US 7 = Hannover UK 6F).

Hope this helps! Get them from AFPoS!

I have the Hannover. I really like them. They seem very rugged, yet still dressy enough for casual Fridays in the fall, winter, and rainy spring. I've never handled the Islay in person, so I can't do a direct comparison. The Hannovers are very dark pebble brown (called walnut pebble by AS). They look almost black when not under direct light but are obviously brown in daylight. I like that they don't' have speed hooks. Much easier to wear with heavy flannel pants or tweeds. Speed hooks can catch on the hem.

I am a 8.5US on the brannock. I wear an 8.5US in Alden Hampton last. I wear 7.5UK in the Hannover. Most of my AS are 7.5, although I have at least one pair of 8s. I think I've posed my sizes in all lasts somewhere in this or the general AS thread. I also wear a 7.5 in the C&J 348 and an 8 in a handgrade last that I can't remember off the top of my head. If I wear thicker socks, my Hannovers are somewhat tight. The commando soles are very high compared to dress shoes or sneakers that I am more used to. I'm definitely glad their commando rather than double leather or just dainite.

Just received my AS armfields, they are extremely comfortable right out of the box. Ordered last Tuesday and delivered to Canberra today with shoe trees and some polish. Great service from the team at AFPOS, thanks for such an easy shopping experience.

Hi AFPOS, any word from AS on the possibility of an oxblood Moore?

I was looking at the cherry and realized that Oxblood would be even more stunning!

The oxblood used to be offered some time ago. Nice comparison to G&G vintage Rioja.

If there would be an option to do the oxblood Moore with a medallion on the toe cap for some and not all, that would be a terrific bonus. A bespoke example from Meccariello.

Just looking for something a little different.

E-mail Sarah and Julian through the site. They have helped me with sizing for my 5 pairs of AS I've bought through them across 4 different lasts. None have gone wrong.
