A fine, 19th C pair of French opera glasses, of fine quality, and with masterfully-set mother-of-pearl conforming panels. The shaping of the MOP panels is amazing, even with the curvature, they set together so smooth that, blindfolded, one would think it a single, continuous surface.... Rich coin-edge detailing throughout. A nice, rich and subtle opalescence from the pearl. Made by LeMaitre of Paris. Note the high-relief Napoleonic bee on the case closure button.... These may be of the Napoleon III period, mid-century plus a bit. Fine leather case with blue silk lining and impressed gilt detail inside. Lenses are clear, functionally fine. Ideal for any kinda high-class closer-look kinda use.... ****SOLD****
