I think I did great. 1- lightweight denim, 1- trouser cut denim, 1- unstructured canvas SC and finally the most interesting J.Press suit I've have ever seen. I'll explain. I'm no authority on the trad/preppy/ivy aesthetic but based on the details, this is the least trad suit I've ever seen from J.Press: Flecked herringbone tweed 2pc (coat) 2B, SB, low button stance, ticket pocket, 3.5 " Lapel, high notch, dual vent, 3b cuffs w/o button holes. Trousers included: High waist, double forward pleats, brace buttons, belt loops(frown), on-seam pockets and two back pockets w/ loop closure. Do know that I tend toward a more dandified aesthetic and rejected this suit at first because the shoulders were a tad quick to my eye but after I left with just the denim trousers I consulted with Paul Winston and then decided to double back. I don't need another suit but this was too good to pass up. suit was less than two bills. I'm quite happy with it. Would some please tell me what model this is...I called J.Press on Madison and after I described the suit to the salesman I could almost hear him rolling his eyes as he replied "That was probably an experiment we tried that didn't work and no, we don't carry anything like that in the store but I'm sure it could be made up for around two thousand." I thanked him for his time. Trad experts...please advise. Thanks. fyi total just over 3 hun. Jason

Went this morning. 10/27/2011. Thanks. C. Beggar!
If you haven't been, they hold the sale at a small room on the 29th floor @ 530 8th Ave. It's about 3 rows of 5-7 racks of suits, blazers, sports coats, with a huge shelf of scarves, gloves, hats, and ties. The dress shirts are long the sides. Lots of socks. Tie clips and cufflinks are by the register.
Lots of thrifty and geeky looking guys looking for a deal. There was this hilarious set of youngsters in front of me. They had that whole upper east/west thing going. One guy kept callin the other guy Kansas. Kansas, who might have been all of 21, bought himself an ascot. And they guy behind me, was leaving with his nicee whangee umbrella. (not j. press)
Compared to DC, home of the brooks bros/jpress tradlydytes, NYC is even better at that style.
I rolled in around noon-ish, and they were open @ 11.00.
I was looking @ 43L-44L, and there probably less than 20 suits in that range, about 20 in sports coats, and lots of shirts. @ 70% off, it was like shopping at macy's.
neck ties - ehh
bow ties - meh
dress shirts - plenty, but I'm not the biggest fan of their styles, so I didn't look hard.
Shoes - didn't look for them
outer wear - good assortment.
I copped 2 sports coats (500 & 600 marked 70% down + tax = ~350). I'm getting one butchered right now.
Keep in mind they were doing heavy business @ 12.
But if you're a "bigger" guy like myself (42, 44, and up), they'll prolly still have some goods.
