Gift Advice for an Old Catholic Auntie (Baby themed)

Yo SF peeps,

Long story short, my kid was born a week+ ago, and during the delivery and surrounding days, my wife's aunt has gone far and beyond what would be reasonably expected of a guest in this kind of situation (buying all number of items, spot cleaning house, taking care of animals, making dinners etc). IMO it would be gauche to simply reimburse her, and as she is deeply Catholic, my wife and I think it would be best to find some kind of Catholic-y jewelry of some sort to send as a thanks.

That's the hard part. As an ignorant heathen, I am kind of lost in the world of rosaries, pendants etc, so I am not sure of the 'rules' and so on. From the convos I have had with the wife's mother, a locket with a baby picture would be good, but is it appropriate to combine this with a pendant of a saint, like Brigit of Kildare (my google-fu indicates this is the main 'baby' saint)? Any alt ideas of a baby/Catholic jewelry gift? I'm all ears.

First of all, congrats to you and your wife!

Second, you could buy her a nice rosary, something unlike one she might already have. Be sure to have it blessed by a priest before you give it to her.

+1

and +1 although, in the spirit of full disclosure and transparency, I know nothing of Catholic iconography so I can't really help with the gift idea.

Congrats! Does she have a charm bracelet? If so get her a quality baby themed charm for it.

Mazel Tov! What did you end up naming Babby?

I'd go with a repro of an early master: Cimabue.

Do you think she would like something with a Catholic theme? Does she collect icons, rosaries, theology books, or bibles? Did she lose one recently and need one? If not, I'd go w/ the locket and a thoughtful thank you note. The small saint pendant to accompany the locket might be nice, but I wouldn't feel the need to do more. No need to repay her.
