I would be really interested to see some pictures here. I have a hard time finding shoes/boots that just have the right width. I find most shoes either too wide or too pointy in the toe. I can't keep wearing the con's and van's.

I've phased out the chucks and vans though I do have varvatos navy suede chucks. When I go out I have these choices:

red ck collection pointy square loafers
hazelnut suede fuccis
camel suede fuccis of a differenty style
black pebble grain fuccis with brown trim (ultra gangster)
rossi denim/dove leather with wood/leather heel

(I haven't been reading the archives, so please excuse me if this has all been discussed before - this thread just struck me so I thought I'd go with it.) Are there any Rules you follow to determine which shoes to wear? For example, over in MC we pair bulchers with blazers and balmorals with suits and then bicker about whether monkstraps can go with suits and balmorals can go with tuxedos - I'm still not sure where boots and suede stand. Do certain shoes only go with certain outfits? I also find it very interesting that most of you have moved on from Chucks and Vans. In MC the idea (as I see it so far) is to start with AEs and then go across the Atlantic - but keep the AEs in circulation. Can you characterise a typical evolution of a Streetwear shoe collection?

Does AE refer to Allen Edmonds?. If so the shoes Get Smart had concerns with today start to look good.

Maybe I'm behind the times but I could only see myself wearing Allen Edmonds around the age I'll need my first prostate exam.

yep AE=Allen Edmonds.....I agree about their general aesthetic....the most uninspiring lasts ever. I know they're very popular but when I see a man wearing them I can't help but think he only does it missionary style and regularly orders the vanilla ice cream at 31 Flavors. Not knocking missionary style or vanilla ice cream, as I enjoy both, but not exclusively.

Puma Speedcat in Brown w/ Orange/Clay Red Stripe Puma Roma White w/ bright blue stripe and toe Grosso (or something) Crazy pointy Japanese Leather Shoes (see clubbing shoe thread for pictures) and if its warm outside and I want to go for a bit of shock value and be really fucking tall a pair of Traditional Rectangular Japanese Geta with a 2" rise and velvet straps (they are loud, tall, and make me look like a total ass, unless I wear one of my Yukata/obi with them)

It depends. Certainly IMO a lot of AEs can look clunky, but I've paired them with jeans on a fairly regular basis, and IMO they can look really good if you pick the right one, and if they're sufficiently worn that they don't look like they should go with a suit anymore. I have a pair of burgundy captoe derbys that were brown but I antiqued with cordovan shoe cream that I think look pretty sweet with denim.
