Need a good sneaker to travel with (only one I'm taking)

I'm headed to Europe this spring, where I know I'll be doing a lot of walking. Other than running shoes, I only want one pair of sneakers and am looking for something versatile enough that it can be worn with poplin pants and t-shirts, jeans and polos or jeans and a nice shirt, perhaps even with a sport coat. I'll have several pairs of dress shoes, but if I'm walking to dinner, I doubt I'll want to wear those.

I'm thinking it has to be fairly low profile (like a converse) and in a darker color and possibly leather or suede, but to be honest, given how little I wear sneakers (I have some white converse, a couple pairs of Asics and an old pair of Pradas in the back of the closet) I'm having a hard time figuring out what to get to bring with.

Suggestions appreciated!

Thanks! No experience with these but I'll have a look. I kind of like this:

but would prefer them without the white rubber toe and not Prada (other pair did not hold up well). However they look a little more refined than a Chuck but can be worn with any kind of pants and not look like a dress shoe (or worse, those sneakers trying to look dressy, a la Sketchers).

^^^^ No. You're better off with $90 Feiyue, or GATs.

Is your objection to the perforation, the color, suede sneakers, or something else?

It's because they look remarkably similarly to Chucks, so you're better of just spening 50 bucks and getting a pair of chucks.

But I would agree with the first post and say go for CP Achilles. White gray or black.

Will definitely look into those, especially now that I have two votes for them!

FWIW I've never found the Achilles particularly comfortable. I just assume comfort is a big factor for you since you said it would be something you'd wear because you didn't want to walk in dress shoes.

CP's are great, but after long wear might get a bit uncomfortable, I mean I love my CP's, but not sure I'd love to wear them to death through out Europe.

I'd vote for some Adidas Stan Smiths.

No offense, but do you really think a guy who spends 95% of his time in Men's Clothing discussing high end suits, tuxedos, shirts and ties will want to walk around Europe in spring/summer all day every day in the same pair of soon-to-be-foul-smelling jeans?

I was actually about to reply to this thread sincerely until I read that, what is wrong with me
