looks good to me. Personally I wouldn't use any wax, and instead continue with weekly conditioning, but i'm sure it's not a big deal.

The brass will start to patinate immediately, no need to keep the old crust on there.

i think it will smear on your clothes (simply laying it on your trousers isnt a good test)

but i think it looks great, the way you restored it

I think it looks great.

When leather hasn't been used or touched it can really dry out. I would continue to put conditioner on it to restore the moisture. It should add to the patina. I would just use regular Lexol about once a week for while.
