J. Press is having a warehouse sale in New York. The prices are said to be up to 80% off retail. Selection of suits, jackets, pants, coats, shirts, ties, and sweaters tends to be very good at these sales.

I'm gauging interest on proxying items. Don't know how popular J. Press is on these boards. Ask Andy seems to be more trad.

I would charge a fee, plus paypal fees, plus shipping. I would require payment up front, and would have members submit a list of preferred items (ranked). I would refund within 12 hours if I couldn't locate certain items.

UPDATE:

If you want to move forward, here's how. PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING CAREFULLY:

Please decide what the highest price you would be willing to pay for the item is, and then factor in the other costs. Here are prices from the last sale (including NY sales tax), where the max discount was only 70% (prices taken from here):

* Jackets for $165-$195
* Suits for $260
* 3-piece suits for $390
* Coats for $295
* Shirts for $17
* Sweaters for $110-$220
* Pants for $80
* Ties for $17

I will refund the difference if the item is less than your highest price within 12 hours. Full refunds if I can't locate items.

I am charging a proxy fee, and asking for PayPal upfront--you can pay as Gift or add 4%, up to you.

Cost: Item/s price + proxy fee + shipping + PayPal fee (if applicable)= TOTAL.

Please send the list of items and include the following information as BOTH a PM and IN THE NOTES of your PayPal Payment:

Please title your PM: Proxy Order for (SF username) and include:
SF username
Item Name, Size, Color (list up to two alternate colors)
Name & Shipping Address

Interested.

From past proxying threads, you are better off buying sellable items and then flipping them.

I'd be interested in stuff in the 38S-40S range, accessories, etc. if you end up going the buy-to-sell route.

If you go the buy-to-sell route, I'd find some 38R stuff interesting! It's hard to commit money before knowing any idea what might be avaliable.

Agreed...buy to sell route would be best. Anything in a 38R...especially sportcoats.

Does J. Press make anything on the slimmer side now a days?

I haven't been to a store since I lived in Manhattan 6 years ago. Back then, their shirts and suits tended to run on the full side, but the slimmer trend has been more recent.

Their "skinny" ties are 3".
