is being cool a big part of your life? following a thread, it dawned on me that being cool hasn't been a goal of mine since maybe 1976 or so. how about you?

I wasn't alive in 1976, so I definitely wasn't cool back then.

By the time I was about 20 I figured out that those that seek to be "cool" the hardest never will be and those that are interesting people and don't give a damn about "cool" usually are very cool.

With 100% certainty, anyone that tells you how "cool" they are is absolutely not cool.

The only time I can really mention 'hip' is when I talk about hip replacement.

I have no desire to be cool IRL.

I only want to be liked and admired by anonymous men on an internet clothing forum.

I am cool without trying.

I am being very sincere in saying this. Even the RubeBabes™ tell me I am cool.

who gives a **** about being cool? im just kwilk 100% of the time, with all my idiosyncracies and flaws. to some people im cool, to others (perhaps even more) im lame. the ones who like me tend to love me and those who dont arent worthy of my concern anyway.

I only care if my girlfriend at the time thinks im cool. Don't care about the rest of the people on the planet. I do try to dress well though.

I do change my behaviour when meeting new people in a more formal situation or if I'm going to be around them for an extended period of time. I'll normally avoid seeing them again if they aren't the sort of people that I feel I can just chill and be myself around without worrying about being judged, though.

Being a part of discovering and tracking new "cool" consumer trends (colors, styles, patterns, products) as well as working with a broad range of interesting, creative people often receives a "wow, cool" reply. But that is more me chasing cool than that I'm cool.

One thing that people say is cool about me is that I have an honest acceptance of a wide range of people and as a result have a very diverse group of friends. They range from former punk rockers to conservative religious leaders, famous artists and musicians to unknown actuaries and insurance salesmen. Somehow we just seem to find some common thread of connection and it works. I guess I am a natural marketing person and am fascinated by what makes us all different.

I have accumulated a number of things in my life simply because I thought they were cool and have received a lot of enjoyment from them. So their cool appeal, is a factor in many purchases.

In my late teens and early 20s, I was far more concerned with how I was perceived by some folks. I don't think I was so much trying to be all-around 'cool' as to impress a handful of (mostly female) people. Is that the same thing?

Oh, and anyone posting in this thread is uncool.

I can't imagine anything less cool than caring about being cool.

Sometimes I get told I'm a cold bastard. I'm not really trying to be, I'm just a little introverted and apparently tend to go into cold-businessman-mode at certain times.
