Do sellers ship worldwide, or do they have 'no-ship' zones?

Dear Folks:

Some time ago, when I was setting up my listings, I decided to ship to North America, Europe, Asia & ANZ, Russia etc....pretty much everywhere except South America & Africa.

What I had in mind was that things would get lost or stolen.

But in fact, I already deal with one poor postal system (Italy's) and the stuff does arrive, sometimes with a delay.

And despite my listing details I have gotten some bids from Brazil, and shipped there without any problems. I am quite aware of how large & prosperous this country is.

Sellers: DO you ship worldwide or do you have exceptions?

Buyers in Central & S. America or Africa: How is the post? Is my thinking outdated? Should I just ship worldwide?

i ship anywhere as long as the buyer pays for the excess in shipping and knows that i accept no liability if lost/stolen/delayed/damaged etc. us tracking only goes from my address to once it leaves the US. once it arrives to country destination, it is out of my hands.

from my exp, all of the stuff i have shipped gets HEAVILY delayed and buyers know this is a possibility. just give full disclosure of hte possibilities and most buyers are willing to deal with it

But do you really have no liability? If you don't have proof it was delivered to them and they file a paypal dispute, you are on the hook.

I'm happy to ship everywhere, with the exception of unstable African countries, North Korea, and Italy; I avoid these simply owing to the unreliability of their postal systems. I ship frequently to Brazil, Europe, Asia, India, and the Antipodes, and and have never had a problem. The only place I've had a lost package was Florida!

I ship worldwide, but insure and pay for express shipping. Had no problems with Russia, brazil, central America, China or the ME. The only countries where I've has a package lost were hong kong, switzerland and holland.

So far I have no issue receiving shipment from USA, Italy, France, Germany and Hong Kong. The only time I had a problem was a Turnbull & Asser SC shrinking to size 40 from the size 42 I bought.

im pretty sure if you have the tracking info up to the point where it leaves the US, you are fine. even paypal cant force you to track to the doorstep in indonesia for example

That's wrong. You must have proof of deliver and, if the value is over $250, signature confirmation. It doesn't matter where it's going.

I don't ship to Russia and Italy. I have never been asked to ship to any countries in Africa, but I would think twice about that.

As far as I know, there is no overseas seller protection via Paypal. That is, unless you use UPS or Fed-ex, as USPS only tracks packages up until it reaches the country, which falls short of Paypal requirements.

USPS Express goes to the door w/ signature confirmation.

For real? News to me. Where can you view that signature, tho'? Because I believe Paypal needs to actually see it, in order for you to be covered. As I don't think, "Delivered Abroad" is good enough in most cases. Like how (again, from what I understand) you get Signature Confirmation with $200 worth of insurance (shipped domestically), but that it's not actually visible online - and thus why you would need to actually purchase SC separately in order to have online/visible proof that the package was signed for.

This. Also, when shipping to Canada and the UK, you can only insure/be covered for up to $675. Anything after that, you should explore FedEx.

Fellas,
Don't forget us people in the FPO/APO. That stands for Fleet Post Office/Army Post Office. As a reminder... postage costs are to the point of debarkation - usually West Coast or East Coast, sometimes Texas for countries down south. After that, Uncle Sam foots the bill. So, to get a USPS PRiority package (trackable) here in Sicily, its around 10.-- bucks. This is a huge market, you have American military trained by USPS standards - no third world middlemen. Thanks. By the way, Amazon has this model down.
