I am drinking Harpoon's UFO Rasberry Hefeweizen (unfiltered). fruity but pretty tasty. not sure if I can achieve Conne's level of intoxication (although I do have a fully stocked bar and a gallon of Jack D. to boot), but hey, it's the holidays. It is snowing / sleeting outside so phuck it ! Now, what cigar do I smoke ??

Well I scored last night. We had tickets to a performance last night, several Scottish and Irish musicians doing a Celtic Xmas type thing. So I called the sommelier at my place and told him we'd be there late for some tapas/finger food, so pick something special for us from the reserve list.

A total score. He had just gotten two bottles of 1997 Brunello di Montalcino Castelgiocondo Ripe al Convento Riserva. This is the vintage that catapulted Italian wine. He had two bottles and we had both of them. We shared a glass with the sommelier and our waitress, as is our custom. A good practice to get into if you have a regular spot IMO, it pays off huge dividends.

When we got home, I cracked the Big Mac 18 y/o I got from CostCo Very nice and smooth with the sherry overtones. Somehow, the wine seemed more impressive than CostCo Scotch

I just finished off some bastardized cocktail that someone had labled as a Suffering Bastard (though it wasn't even close to most SB recipes I've seen) and I'm about to mix up a Hot Buttered Rum, or possibly something using the new MentholMint schnapps I picked up.

How was that? Extra Old strikes me as an odd mixer because of its oaky character and (maybe more importantly?) its price.

My grandparents recently returned from a Caribbean cruise with a few bottles of Extra Old.

Very rich ...

I started drinking this combo last year. I like the complexity of that rum, as opposed to the characterless white stuff -- it does need the creamiest eggnog you can find, though. The thin stuff will not do. Also, it has to be in a short glass, maybe with a cube or two of ice to reduce the volume of mix even further. Not the sort of thing I'd typically drink more than one of in an evening.

I always figured man-juice was parve, but I'll leave that to the experts
