Has anyone ever tried Ararat Armenian Brandy? I'm usually more of a scotch drinker but I really enjoy the taste of their spirits.

Just finished a bottle of their 6 year line.

Viacomte 8.

I've been drinking a lot of cognac and French whiskey.

Usually 40 € here. Picked up my last two for 30 € each. At 20-25 € each, what I paid for the four I've just bought, it's unbelievably good. Should've prolly bought more. biggrin.gif

You are a fan of Redbreast. The 21 will not disappoint just like any Irish whiskey. The grain benefits from age and brings on a level heat to accompany a subtle sweetness. The cask 15 comes close with the right water. The 21 is harder than ever to find since it won some award recently.

Lately, since my bar is largely packed away in boxes, but the little wine fridge I use for vermouth is of course up and running, I have been drinking Carpano Bianco on a large rock with a twist. This is some seriously amazing blanc vermouth, hitting you right up front with that particular Carpano quality, all vanilla and fennel, with just the right amount of quinine; less than, say, Cocchi Americano, but more than Dolin Blanc, which while wonderful, lacks that bittering element for balance. Also, Rin Quin Quin, which is a peachy-apricoty blanc vermouth. Fun stuff.

It is very good -- I picked up a bottle for $50, which is really wonderful for a rum of that quality.

Cocchi Americano + any cola forward amaro (Rammazotti, Amaro Lucano, etc) is a great early evening drink. Best over ice.

Super refreshing on a hot early evening spent lounging at home after spending 30 of the last 60 hours in airports and on planes, with meh airline wine and a truly terrible rum cocktail in some sort of hideous Jimmy Buffet theme restaurant in an airport.

New Lagunitas is super good. Just shade lighter than a saison.
