Just a dram of Yoichi 10. Doing a low/no alcohol phase til I'm in Napoli again mid June.

I like mine heavy on the Campari. I do at least 1:1:4 and then add in a bit more Campari. Grapefruit peel no slices

My standard order for girls who don't really know what they want

Sitting on the front porch with my wife, drinking Death in The Afternoon with remaining wedding bubbly. The choice of absinthe really matters to this drink. Like, a lot. Kubler is really good for an austere Death, and the Jade Nouveau Orleans is just superlatively complex.

We have this weird stand with two 4" x 4" squares of marble that we use for cocktails, it is lovely on the porch. I suppose it was originally for ashtrays?

Uhm yeah. Weather has been really hot and humid here. So a few Cuba Libres and Dark & Stormys were in order. peepwall[1].gif

Long day eased off by this

And this

with dinner,
followed by a lazy faux Manhattan made with this

and this

while reading cheap brain candy mystery/thriller fiction.

Ha, thanks. I'm definitely a dilettante by threak standards. Whiskey I have pretty well developed tastes in. Used to trend more toward Scotch but have migrated more toward bourbon and rye in recent years.
On the beer front I've lately been working my way through the mid-price sour options available at my two local go-to booze shops, with the occasional stout or porter for a change of pace. (Mid-price because my distant Scottish ancestry still bristles at the notion of paying $20 for a beer. I probably need to get over that.) I feel a barley wine detour may be coming soon. Not especially seasonal, but sometimes you've gotta throw caution to the winds and follow your heart.
I have a shelf full of homemade bitters and other past projects (a big jug of slivovitz and some random loganberry thing I improvised) waiting to be used up but I'm usually too beat and busy feeding my kid and nagging her about homework to mix a real cocktail after work.
The greenfrog is more of a wine than a liquor drinker, so I tend to stash the vino at her place to drink there.
