Do you always serve 4oz of 100proof rye as a single Sazerac? You, Sir, have a strong liver that can (almost) keep up with Piob's.

Currently drinking Absinthe. Great stuff.

I can't stand the regular Captain Morgan's. I mean, sure, when you're 17 and drink it at some party mixed with Coke it makes the Coke taste like Vanilla Coke.. but yeah, it's pretty bad. Haven't had a quality Spiced Rum yet.

Maybe not 4, but probably about 3.5. A 2 oz cocktail just seems stingy to me. Being young helps with the tolerance.

I have to admit, I have a tendency of serving cocktail-glass-cocktails on the rocks in a Piob-sized-amount out of laziness. But that always involves ice cubes. With a Sazerac, I feel a sacred bond not to disturb the integrity of the fantastic drink a Sazerac is. Thusly, I prepare a small-ish amount, that still lasts long enough since I savour the Sazerac, and don't let it get to room temperature before finishing it (or gulp it down in one go, which would be the other alternative with 3.5 oz). That being said, I think it's time for another Sazerac. Yummy. Sadly, no lemon available, so I'll use grapefruit peel.

And no worries, I'm most definitely younger than you.

Edit: Grapefruit peel doesn't work that well. Really, don't try it.

I think Captain Morgan's and Bacardi are the reason rum has a rotgut reputation in the US. They're pretty bad without a heavy mixer.

Of course, Captain Morgan responded to Kraken by making their version of the same rum, and they actually made it as a quality product, so if the end result may be that the trend forces Captain Morgan to actually put out a quality product.

They (Diageo) also just announced a couple of weeks ago they will be introducing a white rum extension to the Captain Morgan line. Wonder how good that will turn out. I assume it will be targeted towards US since we don't have a ton of low cost white rums

Or at least many good ones. Which the Captain Morgan probably won't be.

Though on the subject of cheap white rums, I picked up a bottle of Shellback recently, which I think is a fairly new one, and was pretty impressed, at least for the price. Haven't tried the spiced one, don't really intend to.

Yeah probably (certainly!) will not. Interesting about that Shellback... I've seen it in the grocery. Maybe good fr cheap weekend party rum and Cokes.

I'm having my own little version of a Lynchburg lemonade at the moment.

Yup. Haven't had a drink since I said that. I did have one drink today because I said I wouldn't be a douchebag in social situations.

I think I was drinking too much because this past week I got more anxious and argumentative than usual. I'm also kinda surprised that not drinking has been this easy
