Glenmorangie Astar.

Went to a friend's place for some cocktails the other night, became an impromptu party with about ten people coming in. Good times had by all, with our host, mixing some excellent cocktails.

Fresca, but a Sazerac is coming very soon. If there's any night for it...

How is the Astar?

Any comparison to the original 10 year?

Manhattans of various shapes and sizes: a Ramazotti Black Manhattan prepared by a professional; a Handy-Cocchi Manhattan and a Rittenhouse-Antica Manhattan with an Islay rinse, both garnished with Seville orange peel and made by me.

I'm hankering for a dark rum manhattan but it can wait awhile.

I just had a Captain Morgan Black n cola. Not my favorite but as an aside with all the liquor retail connections in this place I figured I'd ask a question...

Does anyone know where I can get one of the Captain Morgan Black launch kits?

Thanks guys!

Also interested in tracking down one of these sets from the Imperial Rum demijohns that went out awhile back but I'm doubting that I'll be able to find one affordably...

Those are really nice VAPS. They look really expensive too. I've never seen them at all until now.

It looks like they were introduced two years ago. I don't think you're going to find one at retail.

A former coworker is starting work with a new spiced rum brand. I don't care at all for that category, but it seems people smell blood in the water with Captain Morgan.

Cuba Libre, Gin Tonic and some Absinthe.

Well balanced Sazerac at Comstock Saloon.

That does not look like a Sazerac.

That's what a Sazerac should look like, afaik:

Maybe it's a "sazerac"

I'm not surprised. Captain Morgan is overpriced and watered down (seriously, 70 proof) garbage, so there's plenty of room to make a better rum and offer it at a similar or lower price.

Of course, Captain Morgan responded to Kraken by making their version of the same rum, and they actually made it as a quality product, so if the end result may be that the trend forces Captain Morgan to actually put out a quality product.

That is indeed a single Sazerac. Why'd you split the one Sazerac between two different glasses?
