Jefferson Rye 10 year is very pleasant. Nice vanilla/cinnamon finish. Doesn't taste like 94 proof either. This gets a firm place in the stock rotation, especially at less than thirty bucks.

Bowmore 12 YO... not my favourite or nearly the most complex Scotch but was only 30 euros so I bought it purely for quaffing purposes. No need to add water to this one.

I've been drinking a lot of Hennessy lately.
Anyone have any good recommendations for more upscale cognacs as well as best budget cognacs?

It's my second night with this.  I'm trying to break into classy drinks, and I'm struggling.  I like dry, red wines and sherry, and figured brandy and cognac to be the next step up (with single-malt scotches being my supposed peak).

Even had some fever tree and q tonic water

Lots of cocktails were had. Basically invited a bunch of dance troupes over. Hot tub was finally fixed. Dancing was had (breaking, popping, locking, hip hop, random shit like the dougie and cat daddy). Truth or dare was played. Girls making out. Guys making out. Girls and guy making out.

Learned a ton of random Spanish

I'm drunk. This nice bowl of chappagetti is making me so happy. Indesertum out.

The Rosita.

In Boston on Friday, went to "Drink." Great place to sit and talk and do serious drinking. What I learned there is that I have to make Rositas at home. After a Rosita to start, I asked the excellent bartender for the first Chartreuse cocktail I would ever enjoy; she obliged. My friend had a bartender's choice, which consisted of mezcal, maraschino liqueur, punt e mes, cognac, and she had some citrus based drink that started very well and got better the longer you adjusted to it.

The space is nicely laid out. It's half submerged with windows looking up to the sidewalk, they put none of their liquors on display, there are two or three distinct bar areas offset from each other, low tops, good lighting. You get really close to the work the bartenders are doing.

It (Drink) was recommended to me by someone who was looking at the GQ list of best cocktail bars in the country, which is perhaps surprisingly a pretty solid list. I will go back for a pisco sour. In any case, power to the Rosita.

Might want to start with mixed drinks to get yourself up to drinking liquor, especially if you're at the price point of the bottle you pictured.

There's not really a linear tier for quality liquor. Brandy and cognac can just every bit as nice (and expensive) as single malts.
