Because it's easier to get than Pappy Van Winkle.

Cask aged Trident. The cool kid's Negroni.

I wish I could tolerate Cynar so I could try that. Because I love me some Negroni.

Moved on to a cask aged Wiser's Manhattan.

Think I need to buy another cask or two.

The chances that it will be great are low but not too many people still living can say they had whiskey bottled during prohibition.

It seems like a neat historical curiosity but I certainly wouldn't buy it expecting a quality product. Odds are it wasn't too good back then (given the market at the time) and even lower odds that it held up over the intervening decades.

Still, neat to stay you had, I guess.

This is pretty much why. As far as Pappy goes, if you know where to look you can find the pappy...this stuff in my mind is even rarer, because not only has it been around for a hundred years, but many of the bottles have had evaporation (the ones coming to me, minis, have not had much evaporate). I'll let you guys know how it was once I get it. Will also be a cool bottle to have on my shelf and talk to folks about...and in no way am I expecting something good!

Some (a lot?) of that stuff never saw the inside of a barrel which is really what changes "white lighting" into whisky. They would just add colouring agents like caramelized sugar.

Yeah, I have no idea why you would spend money on that shit.

So you've mentioned.

I'd be curious to taste it either way. I have had straight corn liquor (unaged, right out of the still) so I'm fairly sure I'd be able to tell. I'm also pretty sure after 80 years in a bottle if it was caranelized sugar there may be some tell tale signs...I'll see when it arrives, but from the pictures I saw looked clean.

I'm not against buying a "dusty," as I think they're called, and was just giving you a couple of factoids. I'll be interested to see pics and hear how it tastes.

I'd be interested in more partial nudes of his wife.

There's no cause for that.
