What are you drinking right now? - Page 793

Amano Bar in Berlin which receives good press. Disappointed. The atmosphere was mediocre. Full of uninspired, hip, nouveau riche type of people. The speakers were quite bad (and the music was quite loud). We ordered a French 75 and a Prince of Wales. The French 75 was dominated by lemon (there actually was the peel of about half a lemon dumped in the drink as garnish). The Prince of Wales was served in a silver cup on the rocks with redundant garnish. Too much Angostura bitters. The service was mediocre at best. We even witnessed how one of the barkeepers cleaned the overspilled beer glass with a dubious rag from under the counter. He did not stop at the rim. Unfortunately, they didn't know the Penicillin cocktail (yet they had ginger-honey-syrup on their menu), so we left rather quickly.

Has anyone tried Woodford Reserve's Cherry Bitters? I've read good things about it. Sadly, it's not available for the export market.

I know, right?

Jerry Thomas:
"The name of this cocktail is a misnomer, as coffee and bitters are not to be found among its ingredients, but it looks like coffee when it has been properly concocted, and hence probably its name."

Neither a "cocktail" nor contains coffee. happy.gif Also it doesn't even look like coffee, unless you're drinking some funky purple coffee.

Tasty though.

Pimm's Cup. I salute you.

Shared a bottle of old vine Garnacha from Spain and now I'm having a nice, big does of Wiser's. Eight oz whisky, big strip of orange zest, couple dashes of Fee Brother's orange bitters, can of diet lime Coke.
