What are you drinking right now? - Page 769

Haven't had a Chapoutier that disappointed me yet.

Saw some Morgan's Gold rum on offer and decided to get some since I don't have any spiced rum. It's as disappointing as I remember. Had it in a rum & coke and it's not tasty.

Also had a Negroni with Broker's, Cinzano Rosso and Campari. And am sipping a Dark & Stormy with Gosling's Black Seal, Gosling's ginger beer and lime right now. Tried to buy some Stone's ginger beer today but unfortunately they were out of stock (and there's no importeur at the moment). The Gosling's ginger beer isn't as hot as Thomas Henry's and has a different flavor profile, fruitier in the early aftertaste and a little tangy in the later aftertaste. Interesting.

Love Dogfish Head! Their 90 min IPA is one of my faves!

just as an update, the wife tried some Three Philosophers Ale the other day and liked it. This past week she and I have opened bombers of:

Three Philosophers
Trois Pistoles
Maudite
Terrible
Delirium Tremens.

And she's been knocking back the occasional sangria as well.

On deck:
Clown Shoes summer ale
La Fin du Monde
Tank 7
More Three Philosopers.

This is a lot of drinking for me, as of late. As for the training, I'm indifferent at this point.

Glenfarclas 15yo neat. My first foray into the Glenfarclas whiskies, and I must say, I am very impressed..

Glenfarclas is great whisky for sherry-lovers; their 21 is one of the best values out there in that style.

I don't know if it's just me but I'm still not really getting the appeal of drinking liquor straight or on the rocks. I've been trying to drink Maker's Mark straight/on the rocks and neither does it for me... Although Jameson is halfway decent in my opinion. Anything else I should try if Jameson is the only thing I find enjoyable?

Some people just prefer a milder flavor in straight whiskey. Sounds like you may be one of them. If you like Irish (which does tend to be milder than most bourbons), there are several brands that you might try, including Redbreast and Bushmills. Jameson also makes several "lines" of its whiskey, so you could always experiment within the one distillery. Canadian whiskey also tends to be fairly mild and subdued, so you might want to try one of those. My two favorites are Crown Royal Black and the Canadian Club small batch. Good luck.
