Jefferson's Straight Rye.

I like that it doesn't have the sweetness of some Bourbons and it's pretty smooth. I've never really had many other 'good' ryes so I don't know how it compares to them, but I like that it has the taste of Bourbon without the sticky sweetness that's sometimes present. And after the first sip or so I thought it would be something I couldn't have more than a few glasses of, but a few sips later prompted a few more glasses and I'm wearing out my backspace key. nod[1].gif

Made eggnog for the first time.

Left is Jeffrey Morgenthaler's eggnog. Center is Clyde Common's and on the right is VTR's.

Delicious. I've never had eggnog, neither home made nor store-bought. The only "similar" thing I know is bought advocaat/"eierlikör" (Verpoorten for example) which tastes terrible in comparison.

I really like Barbancort rums as well, but for Demerara rum, you can't go wrong El Dorado IMO.

I also picked up a Canadian Club Classic "Small Batch" the other day and found it to be a very good mixer in my standby Canadian + ginger ale. Highly recommended.

CC was doing a Sherry Cask Aged a few years ago, was getting it $20 for 750 ml, and it was pretty tasty stuff.

Started up a barrel aged Manhattan run. 25 oz Bulleit rye, 6 oz Noilly Prat, 1.5 oz orange bitters. All in a 1L oak barrel, which I'm still waiting to stop leaking. Probably should have done that before I mixed all the liquor, but didn't know it would take this long. So I have a liter of Manhattan sitting around in a measuring cup with a halfassed lid. shog[1].gif

Nice work! Don't want to piss on your parade but is that enough vermouth? I mean, is that how you usually mix it?

Way to go though! Now I'm not the only cask ager going.
