Just got back from nice family camp trip... many a Green Flash "Double Stout," Bear Republic "Racer Five," Ballast Point "Sculpin" and High West "Bourye" rocks were had around the fire and barbeque. Don't wanna' go back to work.

Who eats pike? Well, other than first time Yankees, fishing in northern Ontario?

Working on a new Xmas drink. Here's the ingredients and proportions I just had:

2 oz Bulleit Bourbon
4 oz fresh squeezed OJ
1 oz 1:1 simple infused with ginger
2 dashes Old Fashioned bitters

Very good, very easy to drink. However I want more spice and more heat to make it feel Xmasy. Next weekend will try:

2 oz Bulleit
3 oz fresh squeezed OJ
1 oz 1:1 simple infused with both ginger and cinnamon
2 dashes Old Fashioned bitters

I think less OJ to let more of the spicy notes of the bourbon through and adding cinnamon to the simple should do it.

Have not come up with a name yet.

Bourbon Renewal

2 oz bourbon
1 oz fresh lemon juice
.5 oz creme de cassis
.5 oz simple syrup
1 dash Angostura bitters

FWIW, I'm down on Angostura bitters at the moment. After playing around with some more small batch bitters it is giving me a chemical after taste.

Negroni with Cinzano rosso. It's a little less dominant than Carpano Antica. Works quite well.

My first Balalaika cocktail- the vodka equivalent of the White Lady/Sidecar. Never really been one to even bother owning vodka, but with the recent bison grass vodka find, I finally have some with a flavor I'm interested in. And it's indeed wonderful in this (2:1:1 as I always default to in this genre)- the herbal and woody notes of the vodka play off of the tanginess of the lemon juice and triple sec very nicely.

Some Ardbeg, some Rusty Nail 2:1 and some Vesper 4.5 gin/1.5 vodka/0.75 lillet blanc with lemon twist -- roughly; quite good.
