Went to an amaro tasting class at the Columbia Room. Tasted Bonal, Byrrh, Avion d'Or, Suze, Melitti, Nardini, Campari, Gran Classico, Cynar, Fernet Branca, Montenegro, Averna, and Cocchi Americano. Really liked Melitti and Montenegro.

Yeah, I would think of it as a quinquina. I would have enjoyed trying the Tempus Fugits quinquina, which I had in a Columbia Room cocktail or, maybe it was the Gibson).

 

How did you find the Suze? I bought a bottle at long last from Ace, but have not been impressed.

Having a sample from my cask manhattan. Caramel, vanilla, and oak are really coming out. Planning to have a little b-day BBQ party for Mrs. Piob at the end of the month and I think I'll have the cask on the bar for serve yourself manhattans.

Super loooonnngggg finish with the caramel and vanilla. Very nice.

Martin Miller Gin
Wilkinson Tonic (only available in Japan, I think)
Couple splashes of Bitter Truth Lemon Bitters
Half a sudachi (like a lime)

having a four roses and san pellegrino. Dropped the previous one into my Macbook Pro but the computer seems ok for now. Had like 4 before that too though.
