What are you drinking right now? - Page 736

a G&T to celebrate the (Eventual) passing of Summer. Using up an old bottle of Plymouth gin from 2007 or so. If I don't get these dishes done soon, I'll be having a second G&T to keep the first one from getting lonely. Football season is in full swing, visited the local game and had some BBQ. It's been raining all day so the game got really sloppy.

ALSO the Mrs. dehydrated a bunch of lime slices, so I dropped one of those in the ol' glass. I can't tell much difference. Maybe next one I'll try one of the orange slices.

Now I think I'll toodle off to the typing thread and see how much better my typing gets after a drink or two.

Very nicely. Smooth as glass.

Nursing headache though. Was a long night last night.

laugh.gif Oh yeah. Three venues and any one of them would have sufficed.

I plan to try and see if my body will not reject a Citadelle/NP martini after dinner. Will get to use the new mixing glass smile.gif

Blanton's SB and some club soda, x4 or 5 I think. Same thing I've been drinking, my wife told me to quit drinking beer. lol. It's cheaper this way so I am for it.

Penicillin. Or at least an adapted version.

60ml blended Scotch
20ml lemon juice
20ml ginger-honey syrup

float 5-10ml Islay Scotch
---
I still have some of the syrup I made for ginger beer. It has no honey in it though. So I used 15ml of that and 5ml Drambuie. And muddled a couple slices ginger to get some more ginger flavor in (because of the Drambuie). I used Johnny Walker Black and Ardbeg 10 for the float. Well, I floated and thought it was nice but a little sweet until I realized that I completely forgot the lemon. So quickly shaked it again and now it's pretty good. Will definitely make again. Thanks Hunts for recommending it and thanks Sam Ross for creating it. (I still prefer Le Lion's adapted Blood & Sand though tongue.gif)

Sorry, but gosh, that sounds horrible with the Drambuie. Go for a less peaty scotch in the cocktail at first, with a float of a peat-y one. I adore this drink (truly one of my faves) with Nadurra as the mix, and Caol Ila as the float. Nadurra works well with honey.

That's 5ml, right? It was just supposed to give it at least a touch of honey (and Drambuie is sweetened with honey, at least that's to my knowledge). It's not like the herbs/spices overpowered the whole drink (or even the ginger) -- I think it worked out well. Didn't really want to stir honey in there because that would've fucked up the proportions even more (and would be difficult in room temperature liquids).

I don't have other blended Scotches to choose from. Would you prefer a Laphroiag 10/CK/TW over Ardbeg 10 float?

But yeah, next time I'll make some proper ginger honey syrup! wink.gif
