What are you drinking right now? - Page 670

Insane Easter service was mostly fueled by a kind of mock Negroni. Aperol, North Shore #11 Gin, freah grapefruit juice, and a touch of grapefruit pulp.
After work a Manhattan and now a Hendricks martini. Still playing around with my perfect ratio of gin:vermouth. I think 3 or 3.5 to 1 is my sweet spot.

Kyle, I see you are living the glamourous, cocktail centric life.

Already had it. Not too happy with it.

Maybe your proportions are off? I like the Gary Regan version:

2 oz. gin
0.75 oz. lemon juice
0.5 oz. maraschino
0.25 oz. creme de violette

I tried the same with 0.5 oz lemon juice. I found the maraschino to be too prominent. But that probably was because I wanted to taste the CdV in the foreground.

I was really puzzled at first, wondering what kind of church you attend. And then I realized that you meant a different kind of "Easter service."

Sencha Ariake

Vieux Mot http://www.stgermain.fr/cocktails.php?p=3&r=VieuxMot
1.5 oz gin
0.75 oz St-Gérmain
0.75 oz lemon juice
0.25 oz simple syrup

Pretty good. But cut the syrup -- to sweet.

Carpano Antico..... worth it?

I don't want to throw half the bottle away, but am thinking about picking it up when I'm in Chicago in a couple weeks.

Try before you buy. Carpano Antica has a very strong vanilla flavor that may not be to your liking. It's not really my cup of tea, so I'm sticking to Dolin, which comes in small bottles.

Yeah, did not know that. I will probably buy Dolin or Noilly Prat. 375s are my lifeblood.

Dolin Blanc is particularly delicious. It mixes well and is great by itself.

I bought a bottle recently and have been underwhelmed. I prefer Punt e Mes at around half the price.
