carpes are no more man, I had an epiphany the last time I went down to barney's to get'em...I realized they're not that tight, especially 1200 dollar tight haha who knows though, maybe later on when I find a better style and run out of more important stuff to buy

Have you looked at Beford Stu boots? Another brand with good leather workmanship. I was really close to trying the At The Front boots a couple months ago but got disuaded by the lack of information I could find from them. Plus the owner of the site has a pretty "you get what we give you" attitude and it sounds like returning could be a pain. Plus he admits they use lower quality materials, which is fine, but I don't know how low the quality is if you know what I mean.

I have the brown Corcorans exactly like the ones in the original post in this thread. IMHO they take a long time to break in...longer than the UK made Doc Martens I have been known to wear. They do look cool being brown with most combat boots being black or desert tan these days. They'll also come in handy if I ever have to get out of an airplane in a hurry, and make sure my toes don't catch on the way out.

cochrans are great. i wore them for many parachute landings. they fit well and give good support. theres plenty of toe space.

Ugh, not the exact same scenario, but this makes me think of the opening sequence to Blackhawk Down.

Are they better because they're German?

I take back what I said. I just got a pair of Medium Socialists in the mail, and these boots are fucking sweet. Very solid construction, good materials, and the design, in person, is just awesome. I don't like the distressed leathers on the new Anarchists, but the older, non distressed (oiled?) leather is really nice. The design is slightly jump boot-ish, but with a very modern, sleek aesthetic. Unfortunately, I got a 9, thinking they'd run a half size large. They are a tiny bit large, but not half a size, and they're crushing my toes. Guess I'll have to track down some 9.5 Anarchists and start selling off all this stuff I've needed to flip for a while now.

Let me know if you track down a place that sells the older, non distressed leather (brown). I wear a 10.5 myself, and these boots are exactly what I was looking for.

here's the basic combat boot. preferred due to the nylon upper so it can breathe.

The Medium website has it in 11. Other than that, I don't think you're likely to find it anywhere.
