What are your must-do's when you go to New York?

So I'm looking for suggestions for what I should do over my 8 day stay in NYC. Aside from shopping in Soho, eating local delicacies and catching a couple of bands I haven't really started to dig and research. Considering I'd be flying out next Saturday it's about time to starting digging. I've got a hostel bed just west of Central Park on 101st along the #1 subway, not that I'm restricted by the Manhattan area. Cheap food and culture are bonuses so I can spend more money shopping. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SOLVED: since it seems your craigslist doesn't allow a secondary market where do you guys search for your tickets to sold out shows (aside from the depths of ebay) trying to find a ticket for the Miami Horror show March 29th, The Cults March 31st and either Cut Copy show April 1st or 2nd

I always buy tickets for sold out shows on craigslist. I've done it over 20 times at least. http://newyork.craigslist.org/tia/ or you can try StubHub, I've got tickets for a few events through them.

it has two separate sides/lanes one for foot traffic and one for bikes, but there are areas to cross over to take pics of each side.

the best part is that its not a tourist trap like the brooklyn bridge... which can have literally thousands walking across during the weekends and even weekdays.

^^^ Listed I'm seeing 2 shows at the knitting factory anyways so one of those nights I'll walk the Brooklyn Bridge for shits and giggles anyways

the donut plant is on grand street with in walking distance of the entrance to the williamsburg bridge. the donuts are great, but not really worth standing 30min in line for - unless you meet/are with someone interesting and want to talk.

grimaldi's is vastly OVERRATED. walk the extra few blocks once you are in brooklyn to court street, turn right and find sam's steak/chop @ 238 Court Street. some of the best brick oven pizza and italian food is found there. closed on tuesdays and they are cash only. they also make a killert ribeye...

def walk across the brooklyn bridge and hang in brooklyn heights/boerum hill/dumbo...
