Thanks!

How wide are they at the toe? I wear an 8.5D in AE but also own some of their 8E's which tend to fit better.

Mine are a little tapered in the toe. Similar to AEs 333 last, which I think is AE's most european last.

yeah the taper on the DB is pretty nice. dare i say its very sleek for a blucher classic american style shoe

Okay, so you guys would advise going TTS. Taper would imply more space or less? I have 8.5 AE Shell Leeds (PTB) and they're too big.

Thanks for the help guys.

I wear most AE 8 EEE and DB 8 d fits well. I believe they are 1/4 size larger than TTS. The shell used in DB very good and triple leather Goodyear welting is rock solid. If occasional care is taken they could easily last 20++ years.

You don't happen to have a pair of calf DB's to compare to do you?

Taper would imply less space.

I also have 8.5D Leeds in shell. They are tight in the ball of the foot and cramped by the toes. On the other hand, my shell DB x F in 8.5D feels a half size big ... I feel that my ideal size would have been an 8D.

I would recommend an 7.5D for you ... unlike shell, calf has some give.

Woah, that's nuts. The last time I wore shoes that small was in grade school!

I think it was more of an issue with my instep being too low for the shoes. I couldn't tighten the laces enough. Would have been solved with a tongue pad.

Agree ... the 7.5 may be too short if your original concern with fit was related strictly to the width
