Waiting for my Navy pair now. God knows what gilt is going to send me this time !! As per DB website Navy is Shell Cordovan. But I didn’t buy from DB I bought them from Gilt……
Also…I think the Shell pairs comes un laced where as leather version comes fully laced off the box…..

Could it be a case in which the pair you received was one that was specially made for gilt? i.e. a much lower quality one.

I think you cracked the code. The website shows the model numbers for the shell cordovan shoes.
Black Smooth: 19007-005
Burgundy: 19007-602
Navy: 19007-410
Dark Cherry: 19007-605
Scotch: 19007-232

And the $650 retail is definitely for shell cordovan. Regular leather is $425 - $460.

And it occurs to me that it is likely Florsheim who is at least equally at fault here as Duckie Brown. Florsheim is the manufacturer.

ill have to check the model number on my pair but my black spray paint pair is listed at $650 retail

I think Gilt has just screwed up the retail prices.

But.. this will be interesting. If your model number is the shell version (they have shell in Smooth Black), then could it mean they are painting the shell? boy oh boy Let's see what yours say.

seriously. the suspense is just eating me up. Ive already contact DB and GILT through email. Just curious at this point. YOu couldnt make this stuff up

Thanks for all the details mate. My cordovan has the code 19007-602 (as per DB Burgundy). Now it makes more sense. I think gilt they are doing the dodge sending some customer the real Shell Cordovan and some customer the fake once. I think I have a valid case. As this is clearly misrepresentations. And honestly how many joes out there will know the difference between shell and leather.
They heavily painted my shoes. Paint bubbles around the wing same as namors pair. This pair even look worse than DB milled leather $425 shoes. I know Grenson and A Testoni makes lower quality shoes for gilt. But regardless they can’t sell a product with the same code and different quality. Any consumer protection laws in US ?? Wish they were in Australia. Big fines straight away advertising inflated RRP. Some big companies in Australia got huge fines for doing so.
NAMOR could you please post your code on the black smooth. And few close up pictures. And try to fold the leather slowly and look for creases. See if the crease looks like calf leather.
