i've been trying this whole not washing my hair with shampoo very often thing and i'm liking it so far. for you guys who work out though, do you still only wash it with shampoo once or twice a week? my hair can get pretty sweaty working out, seems like i should still be washing it post workout?

I run and I do not shampoo my hair everyday. I do it once every week, sometimes every other week. Conditioner does a good job of cleaning your hair in my opinion.

Can someone recommend a stay in conditioner that will keep my hair moist all day, weigh it down a bit, and not make my hair hard.

Personally, I'd lose the headband.

is there a particular product that you are referring too?

I have seen black guys use pomade, but I think I will have to use a lot to keep my hair down a bit.

For those of you that use hair wax (gel, clay, whatever), do you wash it out before bed? So in total you shampoo your hair twice a day? Such a nuisance and I'm sure it's not good for your hair. But neither would leaving it in... what to do

Wash it out in the morning.

I use clay and hairspray lately and just brush my hair in the evening. Definitely helps for the hairspray and I think for the clay, too, but most likely it's just psychological. I guess you could rinse your hair, it should remove a lot, even without soap. Then dry your hair with a towel (and you'll remove even more of the wax/gel/whatevz).

What's the go-to SF/willpower-approved hairspray?

Look into the camera next time. Can't really help you since your face isn't visible.

Is there a beard thread or should we try and keep facial hair related questions in here too? Anyway, I'm trying to grow something out, I'm about 4 days into it and looking kinda pathetic, should I keep going? I really hate looking scraggely.

I might be talking out of my ass, but I know when my hair is really short and I grow it out there's always a couple weeks where I hate it, then it gets to a certain length and it looks good again. I imagine some beards are the same way so I'd give it a few more days. Some guys just can't grow good looking beards no matter what though.

For those of you that use a leave in conditioner/oil of some sort, do you condition at night or shampoo as well? If you do not shampoo do you feel that your hair is "behaving" differently? I wash my hair with conditioner at night but for the past week I have been going to bed with the product in my hair and showering in the morning and my hair is not behaving the same.

I think washing your hair with conditioner does not get all of the product out of your hair and overtime it builds up and looks different. Can anyone clarify this for me?

*UPDATE*

I washed with shampoo and then conditioner, then I applied the hair product I use and I noticed a difference. Does this prove to be true for anyone else?
