OK, jerks. I know I'm not the only one tired of lurking in the Health & Body forum and seeing another handful of threads about hair popping up. One of the few useful active threads on Sufu is the massive hair thread. So keeping with the American way, I'm stealing that idea and implementing it over here. Let's get a little more efficient, damn it, and use this here thread for all subjects hair-related.

So if you have a question about how to achieve a certain hairstyle, are wondering what the best shampoo or hair products are, or even need some advice about the dreaded MPB, throw them in here and let's streamline the H&B forum a bit.

Same here. I was thinking of having a FAQ with the different types of hair products and when to use each product but I got too busy/too lazy.

For short hair, my favorite product by fair is got2B hair glue in the yellow bottle. Keeps errthang really hard and spiky. When I had longer hair, I used the purple Gatsby Moving Rubber. Allowed for good texture control available to cop @ your local japanese supermarket.

Funny, I bought a bottle of this when I was completely out of product and still wary of dropping the dough on any Bumble & Bumble products. I finally caved and bought some Sumowax, but I use that maybe twice a week. The Got2B hair clue, on the other hand, is something I use nearly every day. Works well with my fine hair in conjunction with some hairspray.

I used to have to rely on product to give my hair texture. Now, I use little to none as I've found that washing my hair every other day, or periodically in some cases, works to maintain texture itself. Surprisingly, after a while of an intermittent washing schedule, I find that my hair is no longer greasy after missing a shower as it once would be. This, I believe, is due to the fact that I was probably overcompensating and producing more oils when I was washing my hair more often, since with every washing you strip a great deal of essential oils from your scalp.

Anyone else experience something similar to this?

^^ Yea I remember people talking about that in the WAYWT thread in SWD. There was a video in here on how to style hair and the stylist said not to wash your hair everyday too if it's not dirty.

I wash my hair with shampoo once a week and probably rinse it with just water once weekly. My hair is too lifeless if I shampoo much more than that. Even then, I usually do my weekly shampooing at night so it has a chance to get a bit tussled from my pillow.

Minimal shampooing plus a good hairspray and getting the top of my hair textured have helped tremendously in my effort to not think "god damn it" when I look at a mirror and see my hair.

i use american crew fiber every day to style and bedhead self-absorbed shampoo & conditioner about three times a week. the bedhead stuff smells incredible and makes my hair super soft but can make it feel a little dry if i use it too often.

I think it does, anyway. The consistency of my hair after a rinse suggests that I'm basically starting from scratch. I don't use a lot of it, though. Maybe a pea-sized amount each day. The build-up by day 3 or so is such that I usually only need to run my fingers through my hair to "style" it.
