My hair is straight. I have this product from Paul Mitchell that I just bought. I forget the name but it's a white, dry-ish cream. It says strong hold but it's not a strong hold at all.

Based on my research, wax seems to be my best bet

GF, dog semen should be right up your alley. Careful though because it has a lot of calories.

Soft straight or coarse straight like people of far eastern asian descent? How long is your hair? what style are you trying to achieve? These are all important things to know first.

Kermit give us more details...I parrot what I say every time, baxter clay pomade is my favorite product to date and I continue to buy it...usually lasts about 10 weeks.

Right now I tried the combo that vilan put out and it works but you need all three to achieve the same thing that baxter does.

Can anyone recommend some barbers in San Jose or Sacramento?

Also, any interesting Asian hairstyles other than the same one that everyone is rocking? (combover with either shaved or faded sides)

i have thick, straight, coarse hair (East Asian) with medium-to-long length and I'm still struggling to find something that just works perfectly. I only use hair product to style my bangs and lift them up and that's where I struggle to find something that's strong enough to hold it up. I think my hair is just too heavy so it weighs down. I used to use Spiker by Joico, which has the hardest hold of any product I've ever used. It's pretty much a glue.

Problem is, it solidifies so quickly that it doesn't give me much time / opportunity to style my hair the way I want sometimes. It also tends to clump my hair, which I hate.

I must have tried at least 15+ hair products so far and still haven't found anything that works. I'm going to try Baxter, but I'm skeptical about the hold. How strong is it? Have you tried their Hard Cream Pomade?

Try B&B Sumotech

Depending on how you style your hair, sumotech works well when your hair is still damp. I've jumped between Sumotech and Layrite, both work pretty well for straight, crisp, thick Asian hair. Better if short to medium length like about 3.25" on top

Every hair styling cream or wax I have tried always irritates my asthma, especially during the night. Could anybody recommend me an allergy/asthma sensitive product, or a fragrance free product? Preference is for a product with a medium hold, medium shine and not gunky. Thanks!
