Bought my first GOOD suit... - Page 3

You might want to check if there is a size tag on the pants, wouldn't be the first time someone switched them.
You can generally let out 2", but I would have the good tailor check this before doing anything to the jacket.
When the waist needs to be let out, they let it out to above the crouch to even the lay of the pants. If a person just lets it out at the waist band -- think of how a too large pair of pants looks when you tighten up the belt to take it in -- only in reverse -- you end up with a V roll, right below waist

I wouldn't buy a suit, where the pants need 2" let out. It doesn't allow room for some future spread, which most tend to get with age, even if we think we'll be studly forever

+ 1, enough material is always the operative word. Usually there is a 1 or 2 inch allowance on pants (although 1" is recommended, you do not want to take pants to the wire). If the pants are not close to fitting, then an extra inch may still not make the pants comfortable to wear. Good luck, I always try to go one size up when ordering pants although it is hard when suits are not sold as separates - in this case I usually do not order a suit if it does not have the right drop.

What is it that is not making those pants fit? Are you carrying a spare tire, or have a big butt? Not trying to be offensive, but with slimmer fitting suits and pants, if you do not fit them, it usually means you are not slim in the right areas. Alternative could be you are a muscle bound hulk, in which case buy suits as separates or go bespoke.

The fit can hardly be "great" if you cannot button the trousers in the fashion you suggest. Maybe you really have the wrong size?

i should have specified this....The JACKET fits great...so no, i got the right size, but the pant size is wrong. Every other drop 6 ive bought the pants have fit fine. These are just REALLY tight.

Had I bought a 40 drop 6, the pants would fit, but the jacket would need to be taken in...and id rather the jacket fit well and deal with the pants then the other way around.

im actually slim...could be slimmer, but all of my pants are cut really slim. I think these are just sized accurately and the others ive bought probably measure to a true 33" waist instead of a 32"

Have you looked at the waist seam yet to determine how much room you have?
