I believe it is the difference between the chest size and the waist size. So a 38R suit with a 6 drop gives you a 32in waist. Four or five people answered between the time I started to type, let the dog out, grabbed some coffee, let dog back in. )

The saks Isaia suits in the outlet have a drop 8. it's a pain to try to fit into the pants. I am chest 38 but 30 won't go up or tighten!
it's the base S model of Isaia suit, maybe made only for outlet?

So what, pray tell, is the drop again? I think I missed the point amongst the 38 identical explanations given in this thread

That is where the seam is, it goes from the waist down into the seat. You should be able to see fabric, shaped in a V on both sides of this seam. This will tell you how much you have to work with.

I have to disagree with this - most RTW have at most 2" now. Plus, I'd be worried about the seat in this case, trouser band isn't the biggest issue. General rule of thumb - if you can do up the pants but it's screaming tight its possible, if you can't do em up, you're screwed.

Yeah, I will go with that. However, I have my guy adjust the seat when he does a waist adjustment....if needed. I don't need pants painted onto my ass, but I don't want to look like I am sporting a full Depends either.
