Insanity DVDs?

Through day 2 and I'm in good shape but fuck me it's hard. Seems much better for achieving a physique that will look good in clothes than any other workout routines I've tried. Interval training, plyo, and body weight training. Anyone finished the whole routine?

I've done most of the videos. My friend has been keeping up with them for 3 months now (he's on his second cycle) and has great results. I do them when it's too cold/wet to run or I feel like doing Insanity instead of w/e i had planned lol. It's really not that bad, or no worse than other cardio. I'm quite conditioned in my legs/thighs so that probably helps a lot. But some of the shoulder workouts get me and I've had to break during those. We usually do sets of situps and pushups to cap the workout

Saw a huge commercial spot for this today, like 20 minutes +.

What's the main difference between this and P90X, or just different approaches to the same thing?

P90X requires weights and some equipment. Insanity doesn't require anything and is more cardio based. I always tell my friends that bigger guys will probably benefit more from Insanity than P90X because of the cardio focus while skinnier guys is the opposite.

i did the complete program last year and continue to use the videos in my current routine. it really is a terrific program. i lost 10 pounds and got into excellent shape. it requires no equipment, but i would recommend you have 50-60 square feet of space with a soft, but firm surface (i use that foam flooring over hardwood).

i'm currently doing P90X now, which requires equip incl. weights and pullup bars. Insanity is better for fantastic cardio conditioning and weight loss. P90X is better for building a physique.

They are all good but let's put things into perspective - ANY exercise done daily for 3 months, at high intensity, will give results.
Kudos on beachbody for doing a great marketing job and getting people into this - but it's not the stuff on the television that's helping, it's just exercising 6 days a week at a high level.

Insanity is amazing. It's fun, and challenging. I liked that phase 2 begins right as phase 1 is starting to get easy.

Insanity is equipment free? What sort of shoulder workouts do well without some sort of equipment?

Seems like it would be handy for travel since you only need your laptop.

The only shoulder work you do in insanity is pushups and what he refers to as "V Pushups," and what Tony Horton refers to as the "Pike Press" in P90X. It's basically just bending at your waist and doing a sort of pushup that involves your head pointing straight down so you're simulating a military press using your body weight.

Everytime I travel I usually bring the DVD's with me because of the no equipment required. I just try to get the bottom floor so I can do all of the jumps and what not while not having to worry about anyone below me.

So Shaun T: straight or teh ghey? He's rather flamboyant but is always molesting the women in the videos.

Yep. Consistency is key.

It's the new type of fitness marketing. Old marketing techniques focused on how easy said program would be - "in 10 short minutes a day". This new, more brazen technique focuses on how hard the training will be. Neither one of the products (easy or hard) are inherently better than the other, but most people are convinced the latter is much better, simply because it is physically challenging.
