My best advise would be to buy an Amazon kindle, if you are a great fan of books and want to download cheap and or free e-books. With a kindle, you don't need to bother since you will have the ability to download hundreds of e-books, most of it for free from the kindle store.

Just be a good boy and download the classics. Many of them are free and anyway better than new rubbish. I have read plenty on my iPad.

What's the best e-reader? Kindle or Nook? Care less about color, actually, I'd prefer the e-ink.

I like the look and feel of the Kindle, but I'm hesitant because I don't know how well Calibre can convert epub over to mobi.

Calibre is great. I've never used the Nook, but I love my Kindle.

Do you convert many epubs to mobi or whatever the hell the Kindle reads? How is the formatting and such? Does it read PDFs nicely?

Many of my e-books are in PDF form, and I work at a law firm so having it be a good PDF viewer would be great for me.
