Underrated region/country to tour by train?

I have friend who just toured India by train. Man, the pictures he took blew me away. Any other place to consider?

I've traveled through most of Western and central europe by train, and I've traveled through thailand and india by train. I love train travel.

train travel is excellent. especially in countries were 1st class travel is affordable. thailand, india and vietnam were great fun. europe is good as well.

there is something civilized about turning up 10 minutes before your train leaves and ariving at the center of the city. i really despise air travel for short trips where you spend more time in taxis and airports than in the air.
