Not exactly Walnut, but mid brown:

I'd say these are the most ornate and likely to be noticed of their offerings. I like them a lot nd they would be ones i would consider getting if the fit was on.... not that I have any experience with dress shoes

Just ordered a pair.. Obviously a huge fan of them.

Yeah, those would be better. Although, AE is not bad for the money either.

The McAllister is definitely an attractive shoe, especially coming from AE.

AE on sale is pretty good for the money. AE at full price... not so much.

Don't forget the Endless.com sale is still going on, so these are 20% off from there.

Those were the first pair of shoes I fell smitten over. I had to buy them. Two years later I am still in love.

I like those too. (I like the AEs as well) Problem is OP ask for "similarly priced shoes". I bet those C&Js are almost double the price of AEs.


Comparing MSRP for MSRP (or sale-sale levels), I think you'll be hard pressed to find shoes from another maker. If you go into the realm of italian mid/high end shoes, you'll generally be paying a lot more and they'll generally be blake stiched. If you look for english shoes, which you should be able to find something very similar, you'll be hopping up several tiers in cost as well.

I'd take a look at Alden's website and see thier offerings, they will probably be nearest in price for similar (but better and pricier)shoes.

I like these a lot, and if there were room in my budget, and if my wife wouldn't kill me, I'd buy them. FWIW they're the only colour of McAllisters I would buy. I'm sure the patina would be lovely.

My opinion is that I'd much rather have the Strands instead. You could get both too... just saying.

The Loake Buckingham is not dissimilar and is in your price range.
