CBD WAYWRN: An Experiment - Page 457

Oh the cloth is totally CBD. The tie and cutaway collar, maybe not.

Cantabrigian and MrChris, thank you a lot for your helpful opinions.
Will be going to my tailor soon to discuss the first details.

As for shoes, I have fairly small feet, UK6.5 and thus don't like traditional English shoes as they look very boxy on me.
I spoke to Spoo about sleeker shoes and he further encouraged me to go for a pair of Carminas or Meermins.
Did a bit of research and found these, which I just asked Betty of Carmina if they were indeed made on the Simpson last and if they could produce them in black calf.
What do you think?

If this going to be your only pair of black captoes, I would recommend a sleek round last rather than chiseled. It's just more versatile.

In how far do you think it would be more versatile?
I thought as long as a shoe would be in black calf and of a conservative build the shape of the toe box was a choice solely of personal preference?
Would such a pair of chiseled toes not be approriate for a very conservative work environment?

What about the Alcudia last?

I think Forest and Robert both have too high/baloony of a toe box for my liking:

It's all a question of degrees. Chiseled toes are few and far between and are a bit more "dandy" than a round toe. If you're looking to have shoes that are both sleek and conservative, you may want to think about a sleek round toe instead - happy medium between a run-of-the-mill round toe and a more dandy square chisel.

I'm not familiar with Carmina lasts (don't own any) so I cannot help with specific recommendations there. If it was EG, I'd say go for 82 rather than 888. If it was Vass, I'd say go for F rather than U.

Any suggestions regarding makers/lasts?
I am able to spend 400€/$500.

Where are you located? You should try things on if you're not somewhere remote.

Frankfurt am Main/Germany, already went to several stores, non of them carried any dress shoes in my size, not to mention any brands I was interested in.
I have had a pair of Rancourt Ranger Mocs MTO and therefore measured my feet very extensively.
My bigger foot is 250mm long and has a ball circumference of 237mm so I am right between UK6G and UK6.5F and thus would go for the later for narrower lasts and the former for wider lasts.

Louis:  If you are not finding anything to try on, Meermin is very helpful with sizing questions.  If you trace an outline of your feet and provide them with the measurements, they will make a sizing recommendation for specific lasts.  Reports back from the Meermin thread are that they have mostly been pretty spot on in their recommendations with a few misses.

This would not be CBD in Japan (or even meeting with Japanese businessmen)... I'm wearing a tenugui for pocket square.

The pink in the tie is a bit too aggressive for my liking, still a very good outfit gdl, as usual.

That's a cool idea.

I just pulled up a website and some of the prints could be perfect for a casual look.
