It is fine in normal position.

I am pretty sure most people wear black shoes exclusively with suits, including navy ones. Also, we hear all the time on this forum that black shoes are a must for occasions like court appearances, semi formal nighttime events, etc. If the rule is no black shoes with navy suits, then a navy suit cannot be worn for these occasions. This proves, to me at least, that the no black with navy rule is absurd.

I can't recall ever seeing brown shoes worn to a high-level business meeting (e.g., board meetings, cabinet meetings, exec committees, etc.). I've seen burgundy on occasion, but much more often than not, every man is wearing black shoes. Maybe it's just the circles I find myself in.

People who come to my meetings wearing brown shoes are summarily imprisoned. Being a Governor has its privileges.

Plaids and CBD: Fred and gdl's suits are CBD, we may have to allow o/o's suede shoes and colorful socks (I think the flesh socks are still out of bounds...)

Yep, black shoes are still de rigueur in the City of London. The "no brown in town" rule lingers on. I like black shoes with navy too.

When I was a child, I wanted a cleft chin so bad. I used to pinch a dimple in the chin and hold it for a long time hoping it would form an impression. Alas, I grew up and didn't care anymore.
