Although, now that I think about it...do you have a solid grey suit? plain.gif

Thanks, will try that next time! (Yes I do)

Wow, thanks man. Its a pretty thick silk, and that is a regular FIH, but I could tone it down I suppose. Probably better with a white square too, looking at it with new eyes.

my version of CBD has arched a few eyebrows this morning in my very CB environment

Forgive the distorted iPhone photography and inconsistent post-image processing

It is silk. It's a new old stock tie from Holliday and Brown for Cable Car Clothiers, I believe.

Dandie, you are living up to your name. Lovely suit.

Very nice, dandie. I like how your shirt tones down the suit by matching the blue overcheck. It even complements the brown buttons. Probably won't make much difference, but perhaps a white linen hank would straighten some of those eyebrows?

That looks classic to me until I saw the pocket square

Two tie options today: Hober Grenadine or Drakes Boucle.

Opinions / suggestions?

(I know it's the same Simonnot-Godard square I've been wearing; testing it out with different ensembles this week before it joins the regular rotation)

Grenadine: solid on stripe on solid seems more CBD, but I haven't been around in a while, so I might not be up on current definitions.

That's what I thought as well.

It just seems that the Boucle, while fussy, adds a little interest; and the Grenadine, though a safe choice, seems somehow too drab for the navy sharkskin.

Experimenting a little is all it is... no real consequences career-wise. No one cares what you wear in this company, though a suit / tie is the preferred choice in the eyes of senior management.

Went with the Hober Grenadine in the end; I'll keep it simple and let the texture speak for itself.

Solids are okay in this thread, but they represent a too sophisticated a departure from the original CBD concept (from an older thread.)

This thread is more CBD+, but not CBD2.

I hope that's clear.

I think that some of you who were not around for the first thread (not you, Consumptive), need to read the first thread.

Well, no. The original thread was a farce, a caricature mostly for the funnies. A grenadine tie fits pretty well in an everyday inconspicuous outfit.

Now, on the other hand, NFW that three-piece plaid suit is CBD in my book. That's pure dandy nostalgia right there.
