Thanks. Probably because I only keep 20% of the ties I buy. And only wear half of what I keep.

edit: here's a blurry close-up of the tie (and of the shirt's fancy stripes). This one is a bit of a crossover tie between country and city. It can be worn very city UCBD with black shoes and all, but the green and beige in the pattern can also be picked up in a warmer color outfit, more country I guess.

A simple curation is a good thing. I really need my leg pulled before I branch out on ties. I probably only wear about 6 of mine currently. You've made me like green though. I need some green.

Green ties work well with grey suits

Yeah, the suit I am wearing right now is about the same shade as yours in the photo and was just thinking that green, and even the wine with the green looks really good against it. Seems to pull more colors out of the fabric as well.

Love this combo, G. That reddish tie goes really well with the jacket.

The tie you posted today is great as well -- I personally don't like that kind of a stripe on a shirt, but it looks good on you.

In theory, I don't like those fancy stripes either. But strangely, this is a shirt I reach for from time to time to jazz up a little bit an otherwise very conservative outfit. Reason would say that this shirt should have been gone from my closet years ago, but I kinda like wearing it a couple times a year.

What is your opinion on this color/pattern in place of a black tie with a grey suit? Something to keep the starkness, but just add a little more something.

I have this tie. I like it but cannot wear it because it's too narrow - I will, after it goes through Tiecrafters to widen it.

One thing to note, it is a little bit brighter than the stock photo suggests. The green pops a little more and the area around the paisley patterns has a different sheen than the rest of the tie. I still like it but it is not as subdued as it looks here.

I'll buy it off of you. wink.gif Would you wear it with grey and a white shirt?

I wouldn't. I'd probably go for a light blue shirt over white. But that's just me, I don't wear a ton of white shirts and when I do, I don't go for the starkest contrast with the tie, but rather some medium contrast option.

That said, I think it would look pretty good.
