The suit looks great!
Do you remember which book the fabric is from and maybe even which number?

By the way, how would you compare your Solito vs NSM?

They're not the multi-stripe, clown color "fun socks" that are sometimes seen on B&S and other places.

I don't have that many louder socks (generally more simple birdseye and stripes) but I wouldn't mind having some more color there.

I think it's also a national thing business socks in the UK have historically been fairly bold in the same way Jermyn St shirts have tended to be bolder than those across the pond.

I'm sure I've seen striped linen summer sportscoats in old illustrations? Did I imagine them, or are you purely talking from a conservative business dress viewpoint?

Very nice.

I don't think I commented on Manton's new aquisition - It looks great, but I was particularly taken by the austerity brogues.

Grey and wet today, so photos were taken inside with the usual lighting caveats:

Details: Navy Suit (basic super 100's English mill) - Brook Taverner, White Shirt with light/mid blue pencil check - TM Lewin, Wool Tie - Hardy Amies, Cap Oxford Shoes - Cheaney 'Hockney', silk PS - maker forgotten

All constructive feedback greatly appreciated.

MoK, you seem very fond of these stripes and checked shirts with a very prominent white ground. I have noted by dislike of these before. I think they throw off all your looks, at least for me. I do like the square, though. It's a lot like my favorite, or at least most-worn, silk square.

I don't recall the number. It's the 13 ounce worsted book.

By the way, how would you compare your Solito vs NSM?
The Solito is roomier and fits me better in the collar and shoulders and feels more comfortable and better balanced. The NSM coat feels like it's sliding up and back all the time whereas the Solitos feel like they are settled just right and remain exactly where they are supposed to.

I think I may have the waists nipped a tiny bit. Undecided on that but leaning that way.

I don't think this really meets conservative business dress criteria given the square/socks, but it's about as close as I ever would want to get, so I'm curious how it goes down in within the strictness of this thread:

I'm intrigued by this comment as I recently donated my own white grounded check shirts. What's your particular issue with them?

OK goddammit - you want conservative business dress, I got conservative business dress! I'll wheel-out the big gun; a William Field bespoke DB, steel grey ribbed tie, and light blue medium point collar. Sorry for the blurry image - still trying to master this new digital camera of mine.
