CBD WAYWRN: An Experiment - Page 86

Manton, Thanks for the feedback. I'm very appreciative. To be perfectly honest, soliciting your opinion is a major reason why I decided to come out of the lurking shadow and post a few pics in this thread, which is great, by the way. I understand your points about the paradox. To risk offending your sensibilities even more, I'll admit that I primarily wear the coat casually with denim and OCBDs or sweaters, because the paradox you mention makes it very difficult to do otherwise. I wondered if the combo I posted might strike near that rare exception you hint at. I have the same color trousers in flannel rather than worsted, and I agree that they would have been a much better choice. As for the jacket, I think it's actually anything but "suity," IRL. It's a very substantial 100% cashmere cloth in a fuzzy and textured finish (not sure of the technical name of the weave), which unmistakably reads sportcoat to me (save the color, as we've already discussed). Patch pockets is a configuration I only have in SC's too, but perhaps this is a personal cue that doesn't translate to anyone but me. I've posted a detail pic of the cloth below for reference. Re: the navy blazer and grey trouser pairing as the only "suity" separates combo that might work, I wonder how my other pic from earlier in the thread measures up?

Thanks. It's cream / light beige. Has brown rolled edges but you'll never see the edges of my squares.

That's an odd way to celebrate Greek Independence Day. Shouldn't you be wearing something more traditional?

I would if a) pleated skirts were CBD and b) I wasn't from the islands, where the traditional uniform was actually drop-crotch pants.

Very nice, I like all of this.

Legend has it St Crispin and his brother once made shoes in Faversham:

Thanks. You don't see many suits this light in business over here and I wondered whether there were any 'rules'.

Hey drop-crotch pants are pretty much on trend - Vivienne Westwood has them in her collection

I think the pleated skirts are probably CBD but if floating toe-medallions are iffy, the fluffy pom-poms on the shoes are right out.

I don't think I've ever been cool

My job's changed a bit over the past few months so I've gone from generally being able to wear sportscoats to work to generally wearing a suit. I guess I'm dressing more conservatively during the week, but at the same time I'm being a lot more experimental of a weekend (hence hits & major misses in SW&D). From time to time I still enjoy wearing fits that would probably turn Manton puce - I don't dislike flamboyance in the right setting. I'm on a steep learning curve everywhere

Here's my non-pleated skirt, possibly CBD homage to the 1821 Revolution:

Are these linen pants? wtf it's like 30 degrees here...

The belt definitely brings the whole outfit back to its festive purpose - well done.
