Charity Sale for Japan - Items now up in thread

Thread Starter
Friends, Last year, I had a thread where I gave away some pairs of pants, asking only for the shipping cost to be covered and that a donation be made to the Red Cross for the Pakistan floods. I'm looking to do something similar for the victims of the Japanese earthquake. I'll post stuff up later but I'm hoping that the mods can sticky this thread and perhaps other people can contribute items as well. Cheers. Pants: They have waist measurements of around 33"-34" as I've had the waists let out on some where wherever possible. Yes, you can see the marks left by the stitching but if you take them back into the original waist size, those marks will be no longer visible. They have inseams of around 27-28", some have 2" cuffs and have been tapered to a 7.5"-8" ankle opening. Colours are best represented in the picture below: 3. Plum Club Monaco corduroys 6. Hickey Freeman cinnamon corduroys: Ties & Pocket squares: Ties & Ps' all gone. Shipping to the CONUS should be about $15-20 for pants.

Sounds good. I've got a gone, that I only wore once and washed. I'll throw it in. I'll look around, but I'm sure that I have more. Do you verify that people donate, or work on the honor system alone?

Mostly honour system but some people did send me screenshots showing that they did donate.

Great idea, I was going to donate anyway

First donation made. The Brioni shirt mentioned above has been spoken for.

how does this work exactly?

I'd like to offer these Lochcarron wool ties. Made in Scotland. Say, $25 each. Which charity are you having people donate to? Red Cross? Is there a Japan fund yet?

You may want to re-read how this works. You give them away, and the person donates money.

I know, but say the people donate $25 each to the fund.

At the top. Trini proposed, and has in the past, given items away. He just asks that the recipient pay shipping and donate money.

Really good thing to do. You have my respect for that

Right but maybe I'm just slow as I'm not understanding the process

Do we list the items here?
Do we set a price to be donated?
Do people bid?
Where do folks send the $$?

I'm in, just need to be walked through it cause in slightly stoopid.
