So I'm going to start working out at home. I'm too small timer to afford a home gym right now, so I'm going to do mainly body weight exercises. Has anyone had success doing this? I'm not looking to get really big (I've gained some size over the years from weights and I'm pretty happy with where I am) but I want to harden muscles, get a little stronger, and lose some fat. I don't see myself doing yoga. Maybe p90x, but I live in a small house with a gf and three animals so anything that requires a lot of space will be out.

the book is on torrents out there and the progressions are very well laid out

Dip belt so you can do weighted stuff?

There are small racks

http://www.primalathletes.com/equipm...quat-rack.html

If you can find it the price shouldn't be too bad.

The idea of just doing bw stuff won't get you far.

OTOH I bet what you were paying for 1 year of gym membership will get you something like a Powertec rack. You don't need a commerical class stuff at home.

I quit the gym for exactly the same reasons this year. Saving £50 a month I have bought a rowing machine, which seems to me to be the best of both worlds - for cardio and full body toning. It folds in half and fits nicely behind the front door (I also live in a small apartment). I also bought a decent folding bench, and had some weights already. I am a huge advocate of body weight exercises too, and if you are happy with your size, then it is a great (and cheap!) way to develop your core.

P90X is also a good at-home routine you could try. You already have the pull-up bar, just add some weights/resistance bands and your set.

I decided to work out at home for the same reason. Going to the gym, particularly after work, would have resulted in a significant waste of time. Decided to do insanity at home and augment with some dumbbell work a few times per week. Good program as long as your goal is not to gain much mass.

+1 for p90x. Good workout routines, very little equipment and space needed.
