Already live on C-SPAN. What are your thoughts on this? Some are calling it a necessary examination of a radical sect of people, some are calling it the new McCarthyism. http://cspan.org/Live-Video/C-SPAN3/

Pete King is a notorious IRA supporter. He's a terrorist sympathizer.

Rep. Frank Wolf is testifying...and his testimony consists of listing terrorist acts that American Muslims conspired to commit or committed. What the fuck is the point of that?

I'm still trying to figure out what eggs and frying pans have to do with drugs.

imho any society needs some sort of immune system, to detect corruptive intruders. McCarthyism would be some sort of leukemia regarding this way of thinking.

what would be a religion that says it means peace although it means submission, that says it treats women right although it says women are tilth, that says it tolerates other religions although it only does when being a minority, +add several 100 other aspects.

what would it be? hiv?

Have you ever tried to make eggs while high on heroine? They end up all burnt because you're too busy throwing up in the toilet to properly watch them on the stove. And its really a pain to clean up, plus you have no breakfast to eat.

I don't see why it matters. Are we going to stop being involved there because they have oil? No. Are they going to change major parts of their culture just because a few people in America are concerned about getting their oil? No. Will congress stop and realize that the best solution is to invest less in overseas wars and foreign aid in order to secure oil interests, and instead, spend it on dramatically increasing our use of nuclear and other alternative energy sources? Not as long as the Koch brothers keep pumping hundreds of millions into Tea Party Candidates worried about what a bunch of fucking tribal people in a far off desert think about human rights.

Or, we could take advantage of domestic oil resources.

Btw, it's Dems that need convincing on the need for nuke power. I hope you're writing letters to Obama & Co.

Can someone give me a good line of reasoning for why someone like King thinks these hearings are a good idea? I'm really not interested in hearing your rehash of LibBlog posts slamming it with straw men. I really would like to hear the best case for why he thinks these hearings are going to be useful.

My initial reaction is to think that they are a bad idea, but I frankly haven't heard any debate on them and so am willing to listen to someone who supports the hearings tell me why we need them.
