When did you decide that you wanted kids?

I don't mean in the sense of actually having them, but rather when did you decide that someday you wanted to have them?

When I turned 37. Up until that point, I thought I wasn't ready (though I probably was or would have been in short order).

This past December was when I came to the conclusion that at some point I want to have kids. Not any time soon (hopefully), but someday. (I was 19 at the time) Still don't ever want to get married.

probably a year or so into my marriage. pondered and thought a lot about it, too, whether I'd be ready, if I'll be a good parent, and all that. we were definitely ready for it when our first one came out, and she's an absolutely joy in our lives.

I have a friend who decided he wanted kids when his girlfriend found out she was 11 weeks pregnant. He had 17 weeks to get used to the idea before a particularly premature birth. I'd advise a little more planning.

I didn't think that I would have kids until I was about 30, once I was married I figured I would have kids, but was in no hurry. my wife really wanted to get pregnant when I was 35, I honestly wasn't sure I was ready yet.

Probably in my late teens. I'm not ready right at this moment, but I do know that sometime in the future I want kids (I'm 28). If I have sons, I already have the names chosen that I would want to name them (well, I have 2 names chosen).

My ex-wife and I found out she was pregnant about three weeks before RubeBabeI™ was born. Up until then, I was firmly in the "no children" camp.
