Nice suit J. Glad Will got you sorted out. I've had a number of pieces made by him and now use him exclusively for bespoke trousers and alterations.

Interesting; could this not be fixed by a good pressing? In any case, looks nice and please let us know of anything noteworthy in your discussions with Will.

He had a nice pair of trousers with side tabs but wasn't wearing a jacket when I visited

OK, how about next Friday - the 18th - at the Hay Adams after work?

I have a question or two about Field alterations, thought maybe one of the esteemed DC members could help a brutha out.

1 - How long does Field take to do alterations? I have a tux that needs major, serious rehabilitative work and I have attending a wedding in about 5 weeks. It's only black tie optional, so it's not a necessity, but if I dropped it off in the next week, would Field have it back to me in time?

2 - How good is he? This tux was a very nice Corneliani-made Polo RL, wonderful soft shoulders but it was tent-like. In a pinch, I showed a lousy local Korean alterations place (in Baltimore) what I wanted done and they made a total hash of it. I am certain all the material is still there, but this thing probably needs to go all the way back to what it was before it can become what it ought to be. Is he capable of this sort of multi-step process? It sounds like yes... but worth asking before I take a day off and make the drive.

Thanks.

1. I think Will can do your alterations in five weeks, although much depends on how much other work he has. You'll need to call to make an appointment anyways, so you can ask him this question at that time.

2. I'm sure Will can do what you want him to do, although it doesn't hurt to lay out your situation. He is very good if you like his house style (nipped waist, flared skirt). Not all of his customers are young and athletic, so I'm sure he can adjust the amount of waist suppression to your body type. What I like about Will is that he will look at the suit and make recommendations rather than have you tell him what you want him to do. He isn't cheap, and his pricing isn't transparent. I'm sure he can give you a ballpark figure at the end if you ask.

Can the OP or someone else repost the images as they are currently Imageshack'd? As for Will, I love that guy! I take my stuff to him for more sensitive alterations and I've never been displeased. Plus the new shop is gorgeous and right around the corner from my house. I wish I had the kind of scratch that I could afford a commission from him, but those days are still ahead of me...
