For the first month we opened, I wore all my suits to work, as that was all I knew and was comfortable with. But I really believe that, in our environment, it simply isn't the image I want to project. Dressing well is important, as always, but chalk stripes on the owner is, IMHO, a little intimidating.
Maybe once you are more established you can go back to your suits? I don't think your outfit will be intimidating as long as your personality is welcoming. I would go with what is comfortable for you. If you can be laid back in a suit, go for it.

That said, I'd be happy to take some of your cufflinks or other paraphernalia off your hands!

I think it's Ok for the Owner/ Manager/ Host to be dressed a bit above the staff and clientele. Is it not akin to a fancy restaurant where the men wear business suits and the staff wears tuxedos? So, if the men are in sport coats you can be in chalkstripes. Besides, you are a satorical hero to many of us and we miss the daily inspiration!
